What the role involves
This is the person partner revenue rests on. In a media buying holding they own a pool of dozens of advertisers and GP growth across them; in a B2B company, how many operators sign this year. The week is split between strategy with the founder, account reviews with the team and face-to-face meetings with operator owners. The director decides which geos to enter, which advertisers to scale and which to let go, and how to motivate the team. At an early stage the role is hands-on: the function is built from scratch, and the director closes the first big deals personally.
