VIP Manager

The personal account manager for the players who generate most of a casino's revenue: you look after 100–300 high rollers, know them by name and are accountable for keeping them coming back.

Who is this and what does he do?

In online casino, 1–3% of players can account for up to half of turnover. The VIP Manager is the only person in the company who talks to them directly: messaging on Telegram and WhatsApp, calling, sending birthday wishes, signing off tailored bonuses and defusing disputes before a player defects to a competitor. It sits at the intersection of sales, support and analytics: half the day is conversations and calls, the other half is deposit, churn and portfolio-activity reports. The role is almost always tied to a market language: German, Turkish, Japanese, Portuguese (Brazil) or the Nordic languages carry a 15–30% premium.

Owns

  • Own a personal portfolio of VIP players: messaging, calls, occasions, reactivation
  • Agree tailored bonuses, cashback and limits within budget
  • Analyse portfolio activity: deposits, wagering, churn and early signs a player is drifting away
  • Win back players who have gone quiet: personal offers and outbound calls
  • Handle complaints and escalations, resolve disputed payouts together with support
  • Spot signs of problem gambling and hand cases over to Responsible Gaming
  • Invite players to offline events and tournaments, arrange branded gifts

What metrics are they used to evaluate?

  • Portfolio NGRNet Gaming Revenue: revenue after winnings, bonuses and taxes
  • Retention rate and reactivation rate of the VIP segmentshare of players who come back N days after registering or depositing

What should you be able to do?

Professional skills

  • Casino metrics: GGR, NGR, RTP, bonus cost
  • Working in a CRM (Optimove, Fast Track, Solitics)
  • Excel/Google Sheets to pivot-table level
  • Bonus policy and wagering requirements
  • AML and responsible gambling fundamentals

Personal qualities

  • Negotiation and objection handling
  • Resilience: a player has just lost and is messaging you at 2 a.m.
  • Empathy paired with the ability to hold boundaries
  • Self-management: the portfolio runs without anyone chasing you

How to break into the profession

The classic route is casino support: 6–12 months in support, then a move into retention or VIP. The second route is sales or private banking, provided you have the right language. Candidates with no industry experience are rarely hired, and usually only onto a junior portfolio.

Working hours: Often shift-based with weekend on-call duty — high rollers play in the evenings and at night. In office teams in Malta and Cyprus that means a 5/2 week with rotating shifts; remote roles offer flexible hours with a mandatory window aligned to the market's time zone.

Market Demand: One of the hardest roles to fill in the industry. Language-specific VIP Managers (German, Japanese, Turkish) take months to hire, so companies pay relocation packages and sign-on bonuses.

FAQ

Do I need casino experience to become a VIP Manager?

For mid and senior roles, yes — employers expect at least a year in gambling. Junior portfolios are open to people from casino support, premium retail or private banking with high-net-worth clients, provided they have the right language.

How many players does one VIP Manager handle?

Typically 100–300 active players. In the top tier (high rollers depositing €50,000 and up) a portfolio can be as small as 30–60 people.

Is it true a VIP Manager can out-earn a Head of Support?

Often, yes — thanks to the bonus tied to portfolio NGR. A strong senior on a European market takes home €6,000–9,000 a month including bonus.
