What a game presenter does
A game presenter runs a table in a live casino studio and talks to players through the camera and chat. Dealer and croupier are close roles, but croupiers usually work on a casino floor with guests at the table.
Studios also hire shufflers, who prepare and shuffle decks, look after equipment and stay off camera. It is a common first step for people who are not yet ready to present.
Game shows differ from classic tables: the host works more like a TV presenter, keeping pace and energy up, while the rules are simpler. People with stage, radio or video blogging experience fit well here.
What studio work is like
Live casino studios run around the clock because players sit in many time zones. Expect night shifts, weekends and holidays on a rota, with rotations between tables and scheduled breaks.
While dealing, a presenter follows the game procedure, keeps track of the camera and replies to chat. Dealing errors and procedure breaches are recorded, so focus counts as much as charm.
The job is done standing and takes stamina. Lights, cameras and constant focus are more tiring than they look from outside, so think about this honestly before applying.
Requirements for live dealers
The key requirement is the language of the market a table broadcasts to. Studios look for presenters who speak English, Italian, Spanish, Korean, Danish, Serbian, Mandarin and more, and native speakers of rarer languages are in particular demand.
Studios want clear diction, confidence on camera and a neat appearance. Each studio has its own grooming rules on tattoos, nails and clothing, so check them early. Previous croupier experience is usually not required.
Selection usually includes a camera test, a language check and sometimes an attention test. Prepare to speak naturally and hold eye contact with the lens rather than recite a memorised script.
Training and career growth
Training is normally run by the studio: game rules, card and wheel handling, security procedures and on-camera behaviour, often ending with an exam. Ask whether the training period is paid and what happens if you do not pass first time.
From there, presenters move into game shows, senior dealer, trainer or shift supervisor roles. Studio experience is also valued in player support and table quality control.
Relocation and questions to ask
Game presenter jobs appear in Latvia, Romania, Armenia, Georgia, Spain, Malta, the US and Canada. Some studios help candidates with in-demand languages relocate, especially to Malta.
Before accepting an offer, ask about the shift pattern and night work, whether you are employed or contracted, how tips are handled, and housing support if you move. This job is never remote, because the studio is a physical place.
