Briefly: as of 29 September 2026, the SpinHire catalog lists 194 open iGaming roles in Greece, nearly all in Athens, the rest in Thessaloniki. Three quarters of the listings come from a single employer, Kaizen Gaming (the Betano brand). The market is engineering- and product-driven, English is enough everywhere, and work is office-based. Salaries in Greece are paid 14 times a year, and people relocating can get a 50% income tax reduction for seven years.

Greece rarely makes the shortlist when people think about relocating for a job in gambling. Malta and Cyprus are louder, Sofia is cheaper. But Athens has something the islands don't: a big home-grown operator that has grown into an international company and hires engineers, analysts and product managers by the dozen. If you're a developer, data engineer or product manager and want to live by the sea in a big city rather than a resort town, Greece deserves a look.

Who is hiring in iGaming in Greece

According to the SpinHire catalog, as of 29 September 2026 there are 194 open roles in Greece. The picture is unusual: the market rests on one company.

CompanyVacanciesMost in-demand roles
Kaizen Gaming (Betano)148Backend, frontend, iOS and Android, SDET, data engineers, product managers, AML and treasury
Betsson Group22Backend and wallet, sportsbook leads, sportsbook product managers, mobile app QA
Sportradar11Data analysts for prediction markets, crypto analysts, privacy
Light & Wonder5Developers, partner management, HR operations
Altenar4IT support, finance, junior compliance
Superbet Group3CRM, compliance, HR business partner

Kaizen Gaming's number is inflated by duplicates: the same role is often listed under both the Kaizen and Betano brands. The company has about 60 unique job titles, but even that is more than any other employer in the country. For candidates the takeaway is simple: in Greece you essentially have one big employer, a couple of international offices and a few small teams. That's both a plus, because Kaizen is growing steadily and hires year-round, and a risk, because if you leave the company there aren't many alternatives in the same city.

Which roles are needed and which language

Most openings are in operations and engineering. In the catalog's classification, 66 roles are in casino operations, 62 in development, 18 in data and BI, 12 each in senior management and in finance, legal and HR, and 9 in compliance. Common job titles include:

  • Backend and frontend engineers, engineering team leads, iOS and Android.
  • Software Engineer in Test, including roles focused on AI testing.
  • Data engineers, analytics engineers, data analysts and data science leads.
  • Product managers for the bonus platform, gaming product and sportsbook.
  • AML analysts, compliance officers, treasury and accounting.

There's almost no marketing or affiliate work: three openings in affiliates and media buying, one in player support. If you're in CRM, support or traffic, look towards Cyprus, Malta or remote work.

English is listed as the main language in all 194 listings, and Greek doesn't appear in the requirements. The format is office-based: there are only two remote positions. For newcomers there's the Kaizen Gaming internship program, which is open across several listings.

iGaming salaries in Athens

Not a single Greek listing includes a salary range: employers only discuss money at the interview. So the benchmark is mid-level ranges from the SpinHire profession database for the European region outside Malta and Cyprus. Large Athens companies pay tech staff at roughly this level, and product and management roles sometimes higher.

RoleMid-level, gross per month
KYC specialist€1800–2500
Betting trader€2300–3200
QA engineer€2300–3300
AML officer€2600–3700
BI Analyst€2800–4000
Platform backend developer€3000–4300
Product Manager€3200–4500
Data Engineer€3200–4600

Detailed requirements and ranges by grade are on the profession pages backend developer and data engineer.

An important detail about the 14 salaries. In Greece, the law requires 14 monthly salaries a year: at Christmas, Easter and for the summer holiday. When an offer quotes an annual figure, divide it by 14, not 12, or the monthly salary will look higher than it is. Conversely, when comparing with Malta or Bulgaria, multiply the Greek monthly salary by 14.

Taxes and the relocation tax break

Income tax in Greece is progressive: the rate rises from 9% on the first €10 000 of annual income to 44% on the top bracket. On top of that, employee social security contributions of about 13.4% of gross are deducted. For a mid-level employee on €3500 a month, or €49 000 a year, take-home pay is roughly two thirds of gross. That's noticeably less than in Bulgaria with its flat 10%.

The main argument for Greece if you're relocating is the tax break for new residents (Article 5C of the tax code). If you haven't been a Greek tax resident for at least five of the last six years and are moving to work as an employee, income tax on your salary is halved for seven years. With the break, the same mid-level employee takes home about three quarters of gross. You apply to the tax office in your first year after moving, and large employers usually help with the paperwork. It's best to get an exact calculation for your salary from an accountant or the company's HR before signing the offer.

The cost of living in Athens

Rent in Athens has risen noticeably in recent years but is still lower than in Sliema in Malta or central Limassol. A one-bedroom apartment in a decent neighborhood usually costs €600–900 a month, and it's comparable in northern suburbs like Marousi, where several companies have offices. Thessaloniki is 20–30% cheaper. The metro and suburban rail cover the commute, so not everyone needs a car in Athens. Food, cafés and phone bills are priced closer to Southern Europe than to the islands. The weather, the sea half an hour away and a full city life are what people come here for.

Who Greece suits best: engineers, SDETs, data specialists and product managers who are happy to work in an office and want a big city rather than a resort. If your role is affiliates, CRM or support, there are almost no openings here.

How to relocate: documents and timelines

  • EU citizens can work without permits: you need to get an AFM tax number and an AMKA social security number and register your place of residence.
  • Everyone else usually come on an EU Blue Card or a work permit initiated by the employer. A Blue Card requires a contract with a salary above the set threshold and proof of qualifications. Check the current threshold with HR before signing the offer.
  • Timelines. A permit takes one to three months to process. Ask at the final interview whether you can start remotely before moving.
  • Package. Large employers usually cover flights, temporary housing for the first few weeks and help with paperwork. If the offer doesn't include this, it's something to negotiate.
