Which roles hire without experience
The doors open most often in multilingual player support, casino and poker operations, and live studios that take on trainee dealers. There are also junior roles in trading, AML and KYC, licensing and affiliate marketing.
Game and platform developers hire junior engineers, QA testers and animators. For technical roles, a portfolio and side projects matter more than industry experience.
Player support is the most common way in. People move from there into VIP management, fraud, payments, compliance and CRM, because working with players teaches you the product from the inside.
Internships and graduate programmes
Large companies run internships and graduate programmes in analytics, data science, legal, finance, HR and IT. Betclic and Aristocrat, for example, publish programmes for students and recent graduates.
These intakes usually open in waves, so set up job alerts and apply soon after a role goes live. An internship often turns into a permanent position if you deliver results.
Check the internship terms: whether it is paid, whether it fits around your studies, and whether interns get real tasks and a mentor rather than only admin work.
Building a CV with no industry experience
Lean on transferable skills: customer service, languages, Excel, basic SQL, and study projects in statistics or marketing. Describe what you did and learned, not only where you studied.
Show that you understand the product: how betting, bonuses and RTP work, and why responsible gaming matters. Even a short paragraph on this sets you apart from candidates who know the industry only by name.
If you have time before applying, take free courses in SQL, AML basics or responsible gaming and list them on your CV. They do not replace experience, but they show genuine interest in the industry.
How to apply
Tailor your CV and cover letter to each role, especially if you apply across different functions. List your languages with proficiency levels, since for support and studio roles this is often the deciding factor.
Apply even if you do not match every requirement, as long as you cover the essentials. Interviewers at this level assess how quickly you learn, how careful you are and how you reason, not ready-made experience.
If you hear nothing for a while, a short polite follow-up to the recruiter is appropriate and helps you stand out. Keep applying in parallel, because waiting on a single vacancy costs too much time.
How to spot a good junior job
A good listing describes training, a mentor and a clear growth path, along with the schedule and work format. If the title says junior but the requirements ask for several years of experience, the role was probably relabelled for reach.
Be cautious if you are asked to pay for training, offered commission with no base pay, or given vague duties. Check that the company holds a licence and has real employees before sending any documents.
