One of Malta’s leading professional organisations is looking for an MLRO to join their team. In this role, you will oversee AML/CFT frameworks, manage suspicious activity reporting, ensure regulatory compliance, and act as the primary point of contact for regulators and internal stakeholders.
This is an office-based role with flexible working hours, offering a salary of up to €70K.
Role & Responsibilities
- Act as the appointed MLRO with responsibility for the oversight of the Company’s AML/CFT controls and framework
- Ensure AML/CFT policies and procedures are effectively applied, kept up to date, and in line with relevant regulatory requirements and guidance
- Assess and approve client onboarding files, including due diligence checks and risk evaluations
- Keep track of regulatory updates and propose necessary amendments to internal policies and procedures
- Review AML/CFT control effectiveness and introduce enhancements where required
- Handle, assess, and escalate SARs in accordance with reporting obligations
- Produce periodic reports for senior management and the Board covering AML/CFT matters
- Offer ongoing support and regulatory advice to internal teams
- Conduct training sessions and promote awareness of AML/CFT responsibilities across the organisation
- Act as liaison with regulators and assist with compliance reviews and audit processes
- Maintain and update the Company’s Business Risk Assessment, Jurisdiction Risk Assessment, and Sanctions Risk Assessment
- Prepare and submit the Company’s Yearly Risk Evaluation Questionnaire
Education, Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Law, Finance, or a related field
- 5+ years experience in an MLRO or senior AML/CFT role within corporate or financial services in Malta
- Excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken
- Professionally qualified or currently working towards a recognised qualification
- Previously PQ’d by the MFSA – non-negotiable
- Strong understanding of MFSA regulations and Maltese AML/CFT legislation
- Ability to work independently while providing sound regulatory guidance to senior stakeholders
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
