Financial Accountant

You will work directly with the Director of Finance and the Finance Manager on the finance workstreams that keep the group's numbers straight: month end close, the reconciliations behind the money that actually moves, capex governance, and the clean-up of the workbooks and processes that sit behind our reporting. You will own projects end to end, not just support them.
What You Will Do

• You own the close to trial balance. Journals, accruals, prepayments, cut-off, intercompany and balance sheet recs for your entities across the UK, Malta and Gibraltar - landed on time, with evidence behind every material balance. Management accounts and consolidation sit with the Finance Manager, so the bar is a trial balance they can report from without rework.
• You reconcile the money that actually moves. PSP settlements, game provider statements, player and bonus liability - you chase differences to source and clear them, not just flag them.
• You run the capex register. Capitalisation judgements, useful lives, disposals, and the audit trail behind every number.
• You front the year end. Statutory accounts, audit deliverables and BDO's questions, plus the gaming duty, VAT and other submissions that go out with our advisers.
• You bring finance into new products early. Qoins, Q Plus and whatever's next - revenue recognition, indirect tax and gaming duty treatment worked out at the design stage, not after launch.
• You rebuild what's broken. Manual, undocumented workbooks become controlled, repeatable processes someone else could run without you. Group projects land here too, treasury centralisation included.

What We're Looking For

• You've closed the books somewhere that wasn't simple. Multi-entity, multi-currency, real complexity - and you owned it to trial balance.
• You reconcile at volume without losing the thread. Payment providers, merchant acquirers, high transaction count settlement data - messy source data doesn't faze you.
• You use AI as a working tool, not an afterthought. We build our own tooling here, and you'll be encouraged to build yours.
• You write things down properly. Auditors and advisers rely on your documentation, so it has to hold up without you in the room.
• You work with incomplete information. You prioritise your own workload - you don't wait to be told what's next.

What We're Not Looking For

• People who need the full picture before they'll start a reconciliation. Ours won't always be tidy.
• Spreadsheet hoarders. If a workbook only you can run, that's a problem you own, not a habit to keep.
• Anyone who treats project work as a distraction from the close rather than part of the job.
• "I'll flag it to the auditors" with no rationale behind it. We need the reasoning documented, not just raised.
