2D Artist - Fixed cover

At Relax Gaming, we aim high. Our ambition is to create outstanding slot games that capture players’ attention and keep them engaged. We are now looking for a talented and imaginative 2D Artist who can help bring our ideas to life.
This is a fixed-term parental leave cover, ideally starting in January 2027.

About the role

As a Game Artist, you will create impactful artwork for our games, including characters, environments, and visual game elements that stand out and capture the player’s attention.
You will work closely with Art Directors, Game Producers, Animators, and Game Developers as part of a dedicated game development team. The environment is creative, collaborative, and fast-moving, with several projects running simultaneously.

This means you will have the opportunity to:

• Work across a wide variety of projects and visual styles
• Contribute to both new and established IPs
• Develop concepts from early ideas through to final implementation
• Influence the visual direction and overall player experience
• Collaborate closely with experienced colleagues across multiple disciplines

What we’re looking for

You have a strong understanding of:

• Shape, form, and visual storytelling
• Colour theory and composition
• Perspective, proportion, and scale
• Concept development and design iteration
• Creating detailed 2D and/or 3D artwork ready for implementation in a game

You can explore and iterate on ideas quickly while maintaining a high level of quality in your final work.
We are particularly interested in artists with a strong portfolio demonstrating:

• Concept art skills
• Illustration across a variety of art styles
• Game asset creation
• Character and environment design
• Highly detailed final renders

Most importantly, you bring creativity, curiosity, and a genuine passion for making great games.

Responsibilities

• Producing concept art in a variety of art styles in the early stages of development
• Create mood boards that can explain art styles and intentions behind your designs
• Create mock-ups and reference materials that game developers can use as a goal when implementing designs
• Create art assets, while keeping consistent visual language for a wide range of art styles
• Produce highly detailed 2D/3D artwork for implementation in the game
• Actively participate in collaboration with the studio’s art team
• Participate in game progress reviews and give/take feedback about the designs and implementation process
• Improve processes and best practices
• Learn about the online gaming industry and stay up to date on current trends and what is popular with players

Required skills and background

• You have completed education, or have equivalent work experience, in visual arts
• Excellent knowledge of lighting, perspective, and composition
• Strong drawing and illustration skills, ability to visualize and design from abstract ideas
• Excellent knowledge of game art asset creation, preparing deliverables for animation and in-game implementation
• Skilled using industry-standard digital software, such as Photoshop, Maya, Blender
• Eye for quality and detail
• Ability to present ideas and to receive/address constructive feedback, a positive team player who gladly speaks their mind
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Excellent communication skills, self-driven, ongoing professional development, willingness to learn
