We are looking for a senior-level specialist who can combine deep expertise in slot mathematics with a strong understanding of game development and simulation processes.
The role involves end-to-end ownership of slot mathematical models, active participation in internal framework development and close collaboration with cross-functional teams.
About the role
We develop slot games in-house and are looking for a strong senior mathematician. You will not only design the mathematical models of our games, but also help shape the framework in which those models are built and simulated: advising on architecture and contributing to its development.
Requirements
Industry experience
5+ years of commercial experience designing slot math at a provider or studio (not an operator).
At least 10 games released to production, ideally with titles that have performed well in the market.
Experience across game types: classic reel slots, ways/Megaways, cluster pays, grid slots, buy features, jackpots.
Slot mathematics
Strong command of probability theory, combinatorics and mathematical statistics as applied to slots.
Ability to design a model from scratch against target parameters: RTP, volatility, hit frequency, max win, win distribution, feature RTP contribution.
Design and tuning of reel strips, symbols and paytables, free spins, multipliers, cascades, bonus rounds and progressive mechanics.
Understanding of bonus buy and ante bet math, as well as multiple RTP versions of the same game.
Ability to balance gameplay feel: feature pacing, hit frequency and win size.
Validation and simulation
Accurate RTP calculation, both analytical (where possible) and simulation-based (Monte Carlo over billions of spins).
Analysis of variance, confidence intervals and simulation convergence.
Knowledge of regulatory and test-lab requirements (GLI, BMM, eCOGRA, iTech Labs, etc.): math reports, PAR sheets, RTP certification.
Soft skills and language
Fluent English (documentation, regulators, communication with partners).
Ability to explain math clearly to game designers, producers and developers.
Autonomy: able to own a game’s math from concept through certification.
Mentoring experience or willingness to coach mid-level and junior mathematicians.
Nice to have
Programming (a big plus)
Fluency in at least one of: Python, C++, C#, Rust, Java or Go.
Ability to write high-performance simulation code: optimization, multithreading, handling large data volumes.
Experience with Git, code review and testing.
Ability to follow and contribute to architecture discussions with tech leads: interfaces, modularity, reproducibility of results (seeds, determinism).
Education and related experience
Higher education in mathematics, applied mathematics, statistics, physics or a related field (Master’s degree or higher preferred).
Experience contributing to or designing an internal framework/engine for building slot math.
Knowledge of optimization methods (automated tuning of reels and tables to target parameters: genetic algorithms, simulated annealing, linear programming).
Experience with crash games, instant games and other non-standard formats.
Understanding of how math integrates with the game client and server.
Publications, conference participation (ICE, SiGMA, G2E) and involvement in industry communities.
What you’ll do
Design the math models for new slot games based on game design concepts, aligning with producers.
Take part in designing and evolving our internal math and simulation framework: define requirements, review architecture, write code.
Run simulations, validate RTP and prepare documentation for certification.
Analyze production data from live games and propose improvements.
Advise the team on math, optimization and risk when developing new mechanics.
Build up in-house expertise and math development standards.
