Finance Director - South Africa - Sportsbetting

BettingJobs is working with a fast-growing, multi-vertical operator scaling rapidly across Southern Africa to appoint a Finance Director for the region. Covering betting, media and B2B activities in a highly regulated environment, this is a rare chance to take full ownership of a regional finance function and build it out as the business grows.
Reporting to the Global Finance Director, you will shape regional financial strategy, strengthen processes and controls, and lead an existing small team with scope to recruit further. The role would suit a commercially minded CA(SA) who enjoys being hands-on, works at pace, and wants genuine influence over operational, investment and growth decisions.

Responsibilities:

• Own the end-to-end finance function across Southern Africa, with South Africa as the principal market.
• Lead and develop the regional finance team, building capacity as the business expands.
• Design and improve financial processes and controls across revenue, player funds, payments, treasury, procurement and reporting.
• Deliver accurate monthly reporting, financial statements and management information across legal entities and verticals.
• Own budgeting, forecasting, cash-flow planning and P&L, balance sheet and liquidity projections.
• Act as senior finance partner to regional and country leadership, providing robust commercial challenge.
• Ensure compliance with gaming, corporate and indirect taxes, audits, statutory filings and licence conditions.
• Manage regional banking and treasury arrangements and relationships with auditors, advisers, regulators, banks and payment providers.
• Use automation and technology to modernise the function, improve data quality and reduce manual work.
• Lead the finance workstream on regional expansion, new licences, new verticals, restructurings and acquisitions.

Requirements:

• Qualified CA(SA) with at least 15 years' post-qualification experience, including senior finance leadership.
• Substantial betting or wider gambling industry experience is essential; operator-side experience and South African regulatory knowledge strongly preferred.
• Strong technical grounding in financial reporting, controls, audit, tax, treasury and multi-entity operations.
• Experience of operational, commercial and corporate structuring.
• Track record of building finance teams, processes and capability in a growing business.
• Commercially minded and operationally engaged, translating financial data into clear decisions.
• A fast-moving self-starter, comfortable in a flat, high-performance organisation and collaborating across functions and geographies.
