▮ Description

About OpenAisle
AI assistants like ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity now search, compare and even buy products for shoppers. Many independent online stores are invisible to them: AI bots blocked by firewalls, prices hidden behind JavaScript, broken product data, or checkouts that stop automated agents.
OpenAisle (getopenaisle.com) audits and fixes WooCommerce stores so AI shoppers can find, understand and buy from them. We’re a UK company working with US and European stores and the agencies that build them. We have an in-house 8-point audit framework, and we’re growing our technical team as client work grows.

What you’ll do

Audit WooCommerce stores using our framework: AI bot access and robots.txt, Cloudflare and firewall rules, JavaScript rendering, schema.org product markup, price and stock accuracy, Google Merchant Center feeds, and checkout friction
Record findings with evidence, and explain them clearly to non-technical store owners
Fix what the audits find: theme and plugin changes, structured data, feeds, Cloudflare settings and checkout improvements, always on staging first
Join calls with partner agencies and clients as our technical expert
Help shape the framework, and later help automate it into our own testing tools
What we need
3+ years working on live WooCommerce stores, including PHP and theme or plugin changes
Solid technical SEO: JSON-LD structured data, robots.txt, crawling and indexing
Comfortable with Chrome DevTools, response headers and the command line
Experience with Google Merchant Center feeds
Professional written and spoken English
Careful, methodical work: staging, backups and evidence for every finding

Nice to have

Cloudflare WAF and bot settings · Shopify experience · Stripe, PayPal, Apple Pay or Google Pay on WooCommerce · Python or JavaScript for automation · Interest in AI agents and agentic commerce
How it works
Remote, independent contract, paid monthly in USD
Fixed fee per audit ($45-65) plus $8–14/hour for set-up work, based on experience
About 10–20 hours a week to start, growing with client volume
Flexible hours, with some overlap with CET and occasional US-hours calls
A clear path to Technical Lead as we grow, with the possibility of a stake in the business for the right person
How to apply

Apply with your CV, and in a short note tell us:

2–3 WooCommerce stores you’ve worked on, and what you did
One technical SEO or Merchant Center problem you solved (3–4 sentences)
Your weekly availability
Shortlisted candidates complete a paid trial audit of a real store. All work is covered by an NDA.
