Job Description
Senior Game Mathematician
OVERVIEW
Sportradar is the world's leading sports technology company, creating immersive experiences at the intersection of sports, betting, and entertainment. Every day, our products engage millions of sports fans and players around the globe.
Within our iGaming (Playradar) division, we are building the next generation of gaming experiences across Casino Games, Virtual Sports, Live Betting Products, 24/7 Experiences, and other innovative gaming concepts inspired by the world of sports. By combining premium sports content, engaging gameplay mechanics, and cutting-edge technology, we create products that redefine how players engage with sports and casino entertainment.
As a Game Mathematician, you will play a key role in designing, validating and optimizing the mathematical models behind our casino games, ensuring engaging gameplay, robust probability logic, compliant RTP structures and commercially successful game mechanics.
This role is suited to someone who can work independently on well-defined game math challenges, partner confidently with Product, Game Design, Engineering and Compliance, and contribute hands-on expertise to a fast-growing Playradar Casino Games portfolio.
THE CHALLENGE:
- Design and develop mathematical models for casino games, including slots, instant-win games, crash-style games, plinko-style products, roulette-inspired mechanics, number games and other RNG-based gaming experiences;
- Create, test and document probability models, payout structures, volatility profiles, RTP configurations and game simulations to support product development and certification readiness;
- Partner with Product Managers and Game Designers to translate game concepts into mathematically sound mechanics that balance player engagement, commercial objectives and regulatory requirements;
- Run simulations, analyze outcomes and validate game performance against expected probability distributions, hit frequency, variance, maximum exposure and target RTP;
- Prepare clear mathematical specifications and supporting documentation for Engineering, QA, Compliance and external certification partners;
- Collaborate closely with Engineering and QA to ensure the correct implementation, testing and verification of game math logic in production-ready casino games;
- Analyze game and player performance data after launch and recommend improvements to mechanics, balancing, volatility, retention and monetization;
- Contribute to Playradar’s Casino Games roadmap by identifying mathematical opportunities for new mechanics, differentiated game experiences and scalable game templates;
- Operate as a proficient individual contributor, taking ownership of assigned game math workstreams, solving complex but defined problems independently and escalating risks with clear recommendations.
ABOUT YOU:
- 3+ years of relevant experience in game mathematics, probability modelling, statistical analysis, data science, applied mathematics or a comparable analytical role, ideally within casino gaming, iGaming, online games or digital entertainment;
- Strong understanding of probability theory, combinatorics, statistics, simulations, variance, RTP, hit frequency and payout modelling for RNG-based games;
- Ability to develop, validate and clearly document mathematical models for casino games with limited supervision;
- Experience with analytical tools and programming or scripting languages such as Python, R, SQL, Excel/VBA, MATLAB or similar tools used for simulations and statistical modelling;
- Good understanding of casino game mechanics, including slots, table games, crash games, instant games, plinko-style mechanics, lottery or number games, and how mathematical models influence player experience;
- Strong analytical judgement with the ability to identify risks, validate assumptions and explain complex mathematical concepts to non-technical stakeholders;
- Collaborative working style with the ability to partner effectively across Product, Game Design, Engineering, QA, Compliance and Commercial teams;
- Comfortable working in a fast-moving product environment where priorities evolve and pragmatic, high-quality solutions are needed;
- Experience with certification processes, regulated gaming environments, responsible gambling considerations or jurisdiction-specific RTP requirements is an advantage;
- Fluent written and spoken English, with the ability to produce clear specifications, analysis summaries and stakeholder-ready explanations.
NICE TO HAVE:
- Hands-on experience creating math models for certified real-money casino games;
- Knowledge of market-specific gaming regulations, lab certification requirements or game math approval processes;
- Experience with sports-themed or branded casino games, including products that combine sports content with casino-style mechanics;
- Interest in innovation, prototyping and building scalable mathematical frameworks for a growing casino games portfolio.
OUR OFFER
- Shape the mathematical foundations of one of the most exciting and fastest-growing portfolios in sports entertainment, casino gaming and iGaming.
- Create game math models that directly influence player experience, product performance and the commercial success of casino games played by audiences worldwide.
- Collaborate with talented colleagues across Product, Game Design, Engineering, QA, Compliance and Commercial teams in a highly collaborative international environment.
- Take ownership of mathematical models, simulations and balancing decisions for an expanding portfolio of innovative casino gaming experiences.
- A challenging, rewarding and analytical environment where your expertise has a direct impact on products used around the globe.
- Competitive salary and attractive benefits package.
- Individual learning and professional development opportunities.
- A vibrant, inclusive company culture with global collaboration and diverse communities.
- Corporate fitness activities and additional employee wellbeing programs.
